I love the casual yet pulled together look of a fitted top and paperbag pants. Not only are these pants just as comfortable as your worn-in pajamas, but this seventies-inspired look is surprisingly easy to make yourself. Somehow I find these always go with the latest trends in a timeless way.

Paperbag pants regained some popularity in the early 2010s and have remained a fashionable item ever since! They have been adapted into various fabrics, including denim, cotton, linen, and more. The style has also evolved to include different lengths, such as ankle-length, cropped, and shorts. I prefer full length.

The name, “paper bag waist pants” comes from the unique gathered waist and looser fit leg. From a construction standpoint, all paper bag pants are is a regular pull-on pant with an extra casing above the drawstring enclosure. The extra fabric above the waistline pulls into itself when the drawstring is tight making the top to look like a “paper bag.” Unlike a slim fit pant, it gives a more proportioned look for most body types. Simple enough right?

Making these pants is going to be super simple. After all, these paper bag pants are basically just a fancier pajama pant! For today’s tutorial, we’ll be using the pattern we created from our DIY wide leg palazzo pants and creating a different top. The fabric selection I’m using for this project is a printed, non-stretch cotton blend so the pull-on drawstring will be perfect.

How to Make Paper Bag Pants

For this project, we will only be using the leg portion of our DIY palazzo pant pattern. Set the waistband aside.

Cut 2 leg pieces from the DIY Palazzo Pant Pattern and fold in half, right sides together. Pin along the outside seam all the way up the leg.

How to make DIY drawstring printed palazzo pants pattern

Use a standard straight stitch to sew up the entire length of the leg. From here, you will have 2 separate leg pieces that look like long tubes.

DIY drawstring printed palazzo pants tutorial sewing

Attach the two leg pieces by pinning the center front together and working your way around the crotch until you line up the center back. Make sure the “right sides” of fabric are facing each other, or the sides that you want to show when you are finished with your pants.

DIY drawstring printed palazzo pants .

Now it’s time to get creative and make the paper bag waistline! Slide your unfinished pants on to be sure the hips are wide enough (they may look like clown pants at this point-stay with me.) If your pants are big enough to pull on comfortably, then take them off and lay your pants flat on a table.

To create the paper bag waistband, measure the distance of the top of your pants and double that measurement so your waistband can circle your pants. Add 1 1/2″ for seam allowance and some extra room. Write that number down.

Now that you know the measurement of your new waistband, it’s time to cut! Cut a long rectangle 6″ tall and your new measurement wide. Fold the long rectangle in half hot-dog style and start pinning around the top of your pants beginning at the center front.

DIY drawstring printed palazzo pants ..

Once your basic waistband is sewn in place, iron it flat and tuck in the extra seam allowance. Your paper bag pants should be looking similar to this:

DIY drawstring printed palazzo pants..

The last step in creating the paper bag waist of your pants is to top-stitch a straight line 1″ above the seam of your 3″ waistband. This creates the casing for your drawstring and the additional fabric needed to create the paper bag look. Sew the top, larger casing shut.

(Since we began with a 6″ rectangle to create the waistband and folded it in half, you should have a 3″ wide waistband.)

DIY drawstring printed palazzo pants tutorial

Now the only thing left to do is create the drawstring. To do this just cut a 2″ long strip of fabric. I like to use a piece longer than I think I’ll need because you can always trim it later to your liking.

3 simple steps to make your own drawstring

  1. Fold your 2″ strip of fabric in half hot dog style. Sew it in place using a straight stitch.
  2. Attach a sewing pin to the end of one side. Close the sewing pin so it’s smooth on either end and slowly feed it through the tube, flipping it inside out.
  3. Work your way down the tube of fabric, slowly turning it inside out along the way. When you are done, tie a knot on either end to prevent fraying.

The last and final step to make these paper bag pants is to finish the hem of your pants. After that comes the best part- you get to wear your new creation!

I really sincerly hoped you liked this tutorial. Making your own clothes is so rewarding and I hope your paper bag pants turned out awesome! If you are feeling really fancy or adventurous, you could try adding some back pockets! The Easiest DIY Boho Bag Tutorial https://www.discoverbestlife.com/2023/06/27/the-easiest-diy-boho-bag-tutorial/ https://www.discoverbestlife.com/2023/06/27/the-easiest-diy-boho-bag-tutorial/#respond Tue, 27 Jun 2023 07:00:00 +0000 https://www.discoverbestlife.com/2023/06/27/the-easiest-diy-boho-bag-tutorial/

As the weather changes, I always tend to go in a more bohemian direction with my accessories. This boring leather crossbody bag in particular was in need of an update. With a little creativity and about an hour of time, it’s now my favorite bitty boho bag that will be ready to take on the rest of the year!

The term “boho” we use here is derived from the word “bohemian,” which refers to a ‘free-spirited, unconventional lifestyle’.

What is a boho bag?

The best boho bags (or hippie bag) are typically characterized by their relaxed and decorative design, often incorporating vibrant colors, unique patterns, and different embellishments! They are often made from natural fibers such as cotton, linen, leather or jute, and usually have embellishments like embroidery, fringe, tassels, beads, or shells. You can find folk style bags in this style in many places around the world like the Dominican Republic, the Cayman Islands, New Zealand, Costa Rica and el Salvador.

Boho purses and bags can come in various forms, including tote bags, fanny pack style, crossbody bag, shoulder bag, crochet bags, or slouchy hobo bags. The straps or handles of boho bags are often long and comfortable, allowing for easy wear and a casual, carefree look. They are popular for their laid-back and artistic vibe, making them a versatile choice for free spirits. They are best used for casual outings, as a festival bag, beach trips, cosmetic bags, or everyday use. Sounds like the perfect accessory right? Who needs a Louis Vuitton when you can have all that? So let’s get to making our own boho tassel bags!

This tutorial is really so simple, I almost feel silly creating a tutorial for it! Before I started this project, I had already pre-made the tassels via my tutorial from last month HERE. Each tassel was so simple to make from embroidery thread. You could realistically complete them in less time than it takes to drive to a craft store and buy them. Plus, this is a no-sew tutorial, so you don’t even need a sewing machine!

Supplies:

My supply lists are shoppable for your convenience! Get everything you need to complete this project by clicking on any link below without adding extra errands to your day.

  • A plain purse
  • Dressmaker Shears
  • Embellishments (or an old belt) you like
  • Coordinating Tassels (tutorial found HERE)
  • E6000 Glue

Leather Purse Makeover with Boho Western Tassels

Just in case you don’t have a plain purse on hand to makeover, here are a few great options for less than $15:

How To Make A Boho Bag:

What makes this project so fun is your ability to jump right into the creative part! Play with your embellishments and see where you want them, how far apart you’d like your tassels etc. right away. Then, cut your basic embellishment strip to fit lengthwise across the front of the bag.

Tip: Use a match to slightly burn the edges of your embellishment after it’s cut to size. This prevents it from fraying and saves you time because you won’t need to hem.

Leather Purse Makeover with Boho Western Tassels

Once your embellishment is cut to the correct size, lay a thin layer of E6000 to secure it in the right place. Use binder clips to secure your fabric until the glue dries. When I’m shopping for supplies, I like to get the smaller sized E6000  glue rather than the full size bottles. It tends to make less of a mess and I never have the hassle of re-opening the bottle when I want to use it again and the cap is glued on.

Tip: If your bag is extra smooth, sand the areas you’ll be gluing lightly to make a more porous surface. This way, your glue will stick better.

Last Step:

Once the basic embellishment strip is glued on, gently slide your tassels in place, making sure they are securely fastened in the glue. Let dry for several hours before removing your binder clips.

Leather Purse Makeover with Boho Western Tassels

Ta da! You now have new festive, bohemian bags that’s ready for whatever comes your way!

One of the very first places I brought this bag was on a vacation to Mexico. It was absolutely perfect! I loved how the zipper closed all the way across the top to keep my things secure, the strap was long enough to wear across my chest so it never fell off, and I legitimately received so many compliments on it!

For me, that’s the best part about making things yourself. I absolutely love creating something that I’m proud of, it totally unique, and makes me feel just a little bit better when I’m wearing it.

DIY Spray Paint Large Abstract Art https://www.discoverbestlife.com/2023/06/22/diy-spray-paint-large-abstract-art/ https://www.discoverbestlife.com/2023/06/22/diy-spray-paint-large-abstract-art/#respond Thu, 22 Jun 2023 09:58:09 +0000 https://www.discoverbestlife.com/2023/06/22/diy-spray-paint-large-abstract-art/

Have you ever wanted to make large abstract wall art but are afraid it won’t turn out?

If you are, this home decor project is for you.

For this week’s DIY, the kids and I made this modern spray paint art on a huge canvas for the stair landing downstairs. Don’t you just love HUGE modern wall art?! In my opinion, the bigger the canvas, the better the statement. It really looks like one of the canvas prints from Z Gallerie! Abstract canvas paintings can really elevate a living room or dining room if you are looking to redecorate to a new level.

What is Abstract Art Anyway?

In the magical realm of the early 20th century, a bunch of rebellious artists decided to flip the art world upside down. They were tired of painting realistic landscapes and portraits, so they embarked on a wild adventure called abstract art! Led by fearless pioneers like Wassily Kandinsky, Piet Mondrian, and Kazimir Malevich, they unleashed a storm of colors, shapes, and lines. No longer confined by the shackles of representation, they dove headfirst into a realm of emotions and spirituality. Their artwork became a psychedelic rollercoaster ride, where you could let your imagination run wild and feel all the feels. Abstract art shattered the rules, cracked open new possibilities, and made art a thrilling playground for creative minds. And guess what? The adventure continues today, with abstract art morphing into endless forms, captivating our senses, and keeping the art world on its toes. Let the colors splash and the shapes dance—abstract art is here to stay! Today we’ll keep the magic going and make a large abstract painting of our own. Your own one of a kind limited edition original artwork!

This was such an easy project the kids had a great time with. The whole thing only took about 20 minutes to make super original paintings!

You will need:

My supply lists are now shoppable for your convenience! Just click an aff. link below to checkout on Amazon and use the exact materials I’ll be using.

  1. Large Stretched Canvas (you could also use a large piece of wood, poster-board, etc. if you don’t want to make the investment in a large, stretched canvas.)
  2. Black Spray Paint
  3. Silver Spray Paint
  4. Branches with foliage (I had the kids gather some from the yard)

How To Make Large Abstract Canvas Art

We began by spray painting the entire canvas black. I chose black to create more drama and a more finished look once it was completed, but please choose your own color scheme!

While I was painting the canvas, I had the kids pull branches from bushes and trees around the yard to make it a hands on mixed media project. They took turns placing the branches on the canvas to create a abstract landscape feel we all liked.

easy wall art with spray paint and botanical foilage

We all agreed on how the branches would be on the canvas because once we started spray painting since they could not be moved or adjusted after we got started.

Each kid took turns spray painting 2 branches on the canvas silver. My 5 year old needed some help squeezing the can hard enough but my two 7 year olds could paint all by themselves. When you’re painting, hold the can directly over the branches about 12″

When we were done the canvas looked like this:

Since spray paint tends to dry so quickly, I didn’t even bother with waiting. We were so excited to see how it looked! Each kid pulled off 2 branches to reveal their print. When you remove the branches, be sure to lift them straight up off the canvas rather than pulling them. This eliminates the risk of paint smearing and ruining your large art print.

Within an hour, we were able to pull the canvas inside and hang it downstairs. The kids are so proud of their art, I had a great time with them. Plus I love how it compliments our decor.

Most of the art in our house is made by the kids and I love how it makes us feel. When I walk through our home I am reminded of all of the memories in making each project and the stages of each kid while we were creating it. We will always think of this summer when we look at this canvas and the kids are so proud every time someone compliments it.

This project was so easy and has such a huge impact I totally recommend it. Let me know how your project went in the comments below!

Refashion T-Shirts Into A Dress For The Summer https://www.discoverbestlife.com/2023/06/16/refashion-t-shirts-into-a-dress-for-the-summer/ https://www.discoverbestlife.com/2023/06/16/refashion-t-shirts-into-a-dress-for-the-summer/#respond Fri, 16 Jun 2023 10:00:00 +0000 https://www.discoverbestlife.com/2023/06/16/refashion-t-shirts-into-a-dress-for-the-summer/

You can never have too many comfy, casual summer dresses right? Today, we’re going to refashion old t-shirts into a dress for the warm weather ahead! This dress is the perfect casual dress or even a swimsuit cover-up. It’s just as comfortable as your basic old shirt, can be worn with a regular bra, and can even be completed in an hour if you use a sewing machine or 15 minutes without. I’ll walk you through both options.

T-shirts became a popular clothing item during the 1960s and 1970s, particularly due to their association with counterculture movements like the hippie and rock ‘n’ roll scenes. People began customizing their T-shirts with tie-dye techniques, fabric paints, and embroidery to express their individuality and make a statement. So go crazy, redoing old t-shirts or new tops is a time honored tradition!

Check out my other t-shirt refashions HERE and HERE. Now, you can either buy an old plain t-shirt, or use old tees you might already have. Either way, this diy t-shirt is your new favorite easy way to stay cool on those hot days the summer season brings.

My supply lists for upcycle tutorials are shoppable for your convenience! Just click any (affiliate) link below to get everything you’ll need to complete this project without adding extra errands to your day.

  • Men’s Pack of T-Shirts
  • Fabric Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Sewing Machine (optional)

How To Refashion T-Shirts Into A Dress

You’ll need two t-shirts to complete this little black dress. I used large ones, but realized it would have been significantly easier if I started with shirts that fit me properly. I’ll walk you through the process I used to fit the t-shirts to my frame just in case. This means that you get all the different ways to give new life to many types of shirts: a few thrift store t shirt finds, a men’s shirt, any oversized shirts or boring shirts: any old garments really. You’re welcome!

Here’s the basic idea we’ll be using to create this dress.

Refashion 2 T shirts into this sexy summer dress

Start out by taking one of your t-shirts and cutting the neckline and sleeves off. If your t-shirt fits great and you like the look of the original sleeves, feel free to skip this step. Since the t-shirts I started with didn’t fit, I had to resize them.

Either way, cut the bottom of your t-shirt off at the waist.

Refashion two T shirts into a sexy summer dress ..

If the t-shirts are huge on you, add pins to the sides and sew into place, creating a new silhouette for your t-shirt.

Refashion two T shirts into a sexy summer dress

Since t-shirt jersey doesn’t fray, you could leave your edges raw or if you’d prefer, you could finish them off. To finish the edges, cut 2″ strips from the leftover scraps of your t-shirt, fold the 2″ fabric strip in half and sew onto the raw edge around the armholes and neckline. Again, if you start out with a shirt that fits, you won’t have to do this step.

Upcycle 2 Tshirts into this sexy summer dress

Cut a small hole in the center of your shirt. This is were you’ll tie the skirt in place. At this point, you should have a cropped shirt that looks like this:

Refashion 2 Tee shirts into a sexy summer dress

Next Step:

Next, to create the skirt portion of your dress, cut the bottom of your second t-shirt off just below the armpits with a pair of sharp scissors to get a clean line. Here’s where you decide the length of your skirt. I found the actual length of the shirt was perfect for me. Keeping it that length also means the shirt hem becomes the bottom hem of your dress. Smooth!

Refashion two Tshirts into this sexy summer dress

Cut a small 2″ slice from the middle of your skirt down. The last step, just use these 2 ends of the skirt to tie a knot (or sew) through the hole in the front of your top.

Refashion two T shirts into this sexy summer dress

Your dress should looks like this. With the top and skirt connected in the middle:

Refashion 2 Tshirts into a sexy summer dress

This t-shirt tutorial dress is so crazy-comfortable I hope you really love it! My favorite part of this project is how you can make it a simple design or as complex as you like. You could just slice two t-shirts and go with a no-sew option or finish your edges and resize your shirts to make a more advanced project. That’s the fun of a DIY sewing refashion project right? Now with this info you can upcycle t-shirts in more and more clever ways!

If you liked this little black dress DIY, check out my other ones HERE and HERE.

As always, if you have any questions while you are doing this project, let me know in the comments below! I’d love to help out!

The price point for this fun DIY is: zero!

make a cute leggings top from your old leggings with this no sew upcycle refashion tutorial

Supplies

  • A pair of old leggings, maybe from last year
  • Sewing Scissors

How To Make A DIY Leggings Top

  1. Just take your old leggings and lay them out on a table. Be sure they are laying flat and don’t have any wrinkles. For best results the ideal pair will be made of breathable material without any deep side pockets. It’s worth noting that sweat-wicking fabric or four-way stretch fabric makes for a top that feels like a second skin. Any different colors or stretchy fabric material are really your own personal preference! For cold weather you could even use fleece-lined leggings, or thicker fabric.
  2. Next, take some scissors and cut out the crotch seam about 4 inches on either side to create an 8-inch hole in the crotch. Believe it or not, this is where your head is about to go.
  3. Now to refashion your leggings into a shirt, you can either leave the legs of your leggings long to create a long sleeve crop top chop them off to make a short sleeve design. Cut the legs of your leggings off at about 7 inches down from your crotch hole.
  4. Now, set your leggings aside and we’re going to focus on one disconnected leg for a minute. Use your scissors to cut the seam open of one of your legs.
  5. Once it’s cut, spread the leg open to create one small sheet of fabric.

Last Steps

  1. Cut 1/2 inch strip off from your fabric sheet and pull to create a thin lace.
  2. Now pick up the bulk of your leggings and try on your new shirt! Put it on by sliding your head through the waste opening and the new crotch hole we cut. To create the gathered front, just tie your string around the center front of your new shirt, that way it hits the right places. The best part? This is just the best option for everyday wear. You can put a graphic t-shirt or a long cardigan over this wonder if you just wanted some long sleeves.  Enjoy your new sexy little crop top, I hope you liked this blog post!

Happy Monday ladies! I woke up this morning so excited to mix it up a bit and show you how to mix and match the projects we’ve already done together at Creative Fashion Blog to make entirely new pieces. Today we will learn how to make a DIY jumpsuit!

The Empowering Jumpsuit

Jumpsuits have a history that dates back several decades and their popularity has evolved over time. The modern jumpsuit, as we know it today, gained popularity in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It was heavily influenced by the fashion trends of the time, particularly the rise of the hippie and disco cultures.

The jumpsuit’s origins can be traced back even further to the early 20th century. In the 1910s and 1920s, jumpsuits were primarily worn as protective garments by workers, aviators, and parachutists. They were designed for functionality and practicality rather than fashion. However, it was in the 1960s and 1970s that jumpsuits began to make a fashion statement. They became particularly popular among women as a symbol of empowerment and freedom. Don’t you love that?

This DIY jumpsuit Ii’ll show you now is soooooo comfortable and super simple to make yourself. No pattern needed!

How to make a jumpsuit the easy way with this simple video tutorial ..

Hear Me Out

I know I know. That sounds crazy. But trust me. To create this amazing jumpsuit all you need to do is make two easy patterns: the palazzo pants we made together HERE and then sew them together with the DIY tube dress we made HERE. I just shortened the dress by measuring how long I wanted my dress/shirt to be before sewing it to the top of my pants.

How to make a jumpsuit with this tube shirt and palazzo pant simple video tutorial

The whole thing slips on and off really easily and makes you feel like a million bucks. The fact that it’s as comfortable as my pajamas is a major bonus!

What’s amazing is that when you’re done making both the palazzo pant and the strapless top, you’ll have built a fitted jumpsuit from pieces that are made to fit you. Not someone else. It isn’t some graph that a factory made that has no real consideration for how your body is actually shaped. Not what a specific brand thinks your body should be. Your jumpsuit will be crazy comfortable and look awesome because it fits you. You’re making your own pattern!

It’s the reason I started designing clothes in the first place. I’m a tall girl. Even “tall” jeans don’t fit right and for some reason most brands believe that if you have grasshopper legs, you must also have Kardashian hips. Nope. So I created clothes by sizing my own body measurements and grading them into different sizes. I used only the most comfortable, stretchy different fabrics and made sure everything flattered a woman’s body and made you feel more confident.

But back to this project:

How To Make A DIY Jumpsuit:

Completing this jumpsuit is going to be so much easier than you think. Just use the Palazzo Pant Pattern HERE and the Tube Dress Pattern HERE and sew them together. Use whatever fabrics have a little stretch and make you feel great. If thats animal print for you, go for it!

Step 1: Make the Tube Dress and shorten the length to create a top.

After hours and hours of my kids wheeling it around and seeing how fast it could spin, my old office chair was starting to break down. I loved the overall look of it and how it complimented my office decor (See the original office chair DIY HERE) but once it started to scratch my wood floors, it was time to say goodbye.

This leads us to today’s project: an absolutely gorgeous, DIY midcentury chair makeover that looks awesome almost anywhere you put it!

When company comes over and my living room couch gets crammed, I’ll pull this chair up next to my marble fireplace (DIY HERE) and it makes the perfect little accent chair. On our regular day-to-days, I’ll have it next to my office desk (which is also a DIY that you can find HERE.)

I found this chair in the classifieds for $15 and when Jon showed up to pick it up, it was in worse shape than we thought. The bottom actually had a small crack in the plastic that we would have to deal with, the bottom was completely rusted and partially painted, and it even had black widow nests in the bottom of the legs. Seriously guys, the photo does not do the condition of this chair justice! I tried scrubbing it to clean the white top, but it was just too dirty and weathered that it would never be the same again.

Before DIY Midcentury Modern Chair Makeover Tutorial

Now it fits our decor beautifully and is one of our most versatile pieces of furniture. It feels extra-rewarding to bring new life to a junky, discarded item. Plus, the money-saving aspect makes my husband very happy. haha!

DIY Midcentury Modern Chair Makeover Tutorial

Supplies:

  • A junky chair to makeover
  • Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Spray Paint in Dark Gray
  • Rust-Oleum Metallic Spray Paint In Warm Gold
  • Fine Grit Sandpaper
  • 1/2 Yard Faux Fur Fabric – I used this one

The DIY Midcentury Chair Makeover:

I started out by separating the top from the bottom of the chair. I did this for two reasons: 1. Needing to sand and paint the bottom a different color from the top. 2. Since there were spider nests in the bottom, I wanted to bleach the entire thing and every nook and cranny before I moved on.

Before DIY Midcentury Modern Chair Makeover Tutorial picture -

The bottom had rust, missing rubber caps on the chair legs, and a sloppy, dripping paint job in parts of the chair. To fix all of those problems and get the new spray paint to adhere better to it, I used a fine grit sandpaper to smooth the rough edges and dripping paint. Be sure to wipe the legs down again before painting so the paint doesn’t get a funky texture.

Next it was time to paint! I love how a fresh coat of paint can completely transform something. This sad little chair certainly was no exception. To get an even look, I used three light coats of this spray paint and made sure it was completely dry before applying the next coat.

After both pieces of the chair were scrubbed, sanded and painted, it was time to put them back together.

One of the last problems with the chair I addressed was the missing rubber leg covers. Since the entire reason I was replacing my old office chair was to protect my wood floors, it wouldn’t make sense to bring in a chair that would scratch them up even worse. Luckily, to fix them wasn’t a big problem. If you happen to run into the same problem as me, here’s the supplies you’ll need:

  • Hot Glue Gun
  • 1/4 Yard of Thick Suede Upholstery Fabric
  • Fabric Scissors

How To Re-Cover Rough Chair Legs:

  1. Start out by cutting your suede into four separate, 3″ squares
  2. Cut 4 slices into your square as shown in Step #1
  3. Place the end of your chair leg at the center of your square.
  4. Use a hot glue gun to adhere the middle sections around the front and back of the chair leg.
  5. Apply more hot glue to one side of your suede square and wrap it around the sides of your chair leg.
  6. Repeat on the opposite side.

How to cover chair legs to prevent scratching

Lastly, cut a small piece of faux fur to lay over the top of your chair. For my chair, it was just a 20″ wide strip of fabric that was long enough to be draped over the top.

DIY Midcentury Modern Chair Makeover

Ta da! Now you have a beautiful refinished, DIY midcentury chair that won’t scratch the floor and matches whatever other modern decor you’ve got.

Good morning! Today, I’m excited to show you a super-simple project to update some basic hoops into bold, DIY boho tassel earrings. I love massive statement earrings, don’t you? In the past few weeks, we’ve made leather feather earrings and recycled vinyl record earrings, but I think these DIY boho tassel earrings make the biggest impact on an outfit. In just a few minutes, you can makeover your old hoops into something more vibrant and with more color and texture.

Tassels have a rich history spanning thousands of years. Originating in ancient civilizations like Egypt and Greece, they were used as decorative elements on clothing and accessories, symbolizing wealth and status. Throughout the Middle Ages and Renaissance, tassels remained popular in fashion and interior design. Today, they continue to be used on graduation caps, in home furnishings, and as fashionable embellishments. Tassels have evolved into a timeless fashion-forward statement across cultures and design styles.

But why are they considered boho fashion now, you ask?

Well, the free spirited boho style draws inspiration from various cultures and eras,  and uses an unconventional approach to fashion.

Tassels, with their playful and whimsical nature, align well with the boho ethos! They add movement, texture, and a touch of bohemian flair to clothing, accessories, and home decor. The use of tassels in boho fashion and interior design is reminiscent of global influences, tribal motifs, and care-free artists worldwide.

Also, tassels are often crafted from natural materials like cotton, jute, or silk, which align with the boho emphasis on organic and sustainable materials. Their handcrafted appearance and imperfect, slightly disheveled look contribute to the boho aesthetic of embracing imperfection and individuality. To put it simply: it’s all about the vibes. Let’s get your own earrings going!

How To Make Boho DIY Tassel Earrings:

Start out by taking some embroidery thread and tying a tight knot around the end of one of your hoop earrings. I like to add a small dot of superglue around my knot to hold it in place.

Wrap your embroidery thread around your hoop earring until you reach the other side. Tie another knot on the other side and superglue to secure. The superglue does a great job of keeping your embroidery thread from slipping into your DIY earrings closures.

Making The Tassels

Next, it’s time to make some tassels! I created an easy little video tutorial on how to make your own tassels. For today’s  step-by-step tutorial, I used 10 tassels in total but you can choose to make however many you like. The best part of making tassels is that the loose ends just become part of the tassel! No need to hide them. Just pick the color of your choice and follow the simple tutorial below!

How to make Easy DIY boho tassel earrings with hoops tutorial. See the Full steps and video process.

Now that your tassels are all ready to go in the color scheme of your choice, it’s time to attach them to your hoop earrings. Tie a small knot to hold them in place and once they are secure, trim the length of your tassels all together so you have a uniform look. You’ve got your own pair of tassel earrings! They do make for great gifts, because they are such an easy project to do in little time. They are the perfect way to give a thoughtful present with your personal touch. Good luck parting with them though, you won’t want to!

Tip: If you’d like them to fan out more and have a stiffer look, just spray them with some Spray Starch and lay flat to dry before wearing.

I hope you guys liked these DIY boho tassel fringe earrings! I love how they can simply add color to neutral outfits and are perfect for summer!
Wearing boho tassels brings a whimsical and carefree charm to your style. Whether adorning a flowy dress, a fringe-laden bag, or dangling from bohemian-inspired jewelry, tassels give a free-spirited vibe. They add movement and texture, infusing your look with flair. Embracing boho tassels allows you to tap into a world of eclectic influences, tribal inspirations, and handcrafted aesthetics. With their organic materials and imperfect charm, boho tassels invite you to embrace individuality and showcase your adventurous spirit through fashion. As always, if you ever have any questions while you are completing this tutorial, just leave a comment below and I would love to help out. There are only a few wardrobe staples that really can play a major role in every single woman’s capsule wardrobe. In my opinion, a basic t-shirt dress is definitely one of them. Reasons?

T-shirt dresses are easy to wear. The soft, stretchy material means wearing them feels comfortable against the skin. I think they are perfect for casual and formal occasions and you can wear them all day long without feeling uncomfortable. For me this kind of dress is so perfect, because it can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. If you wear them with sneakers it’s a casual look, or then pair them with with heels for a more formal event. You can easily style them in a variety of ways, because the shape is so simple yet stylish.

You can pair this type of dress with accessories such as belts, jackets, and jewelry to create a unique look. T-shirt dresses come in a variety of styles and lengths, making them flattering for different body types. They can be fitted or loose, depending on the desired look.

They are often more affordable than other types of dresses, making them a great option for those on a budget.

That’s why in today’s post, I’ll be walking you through exactly how to make one yourself! For today’s tutorial, we’ll be using a shirt you already have to create a dress that fits you perfectly.

Good morning ladies! To celebrate summer, I thought I’d compile a little round-up of easy, totally FREE Swimsuit bikini DIY tutorials from Creative Fashion Blog past.

The bathing suit has been a popular beach and poolside attire for decades. From the classic one-piece swimsuit to the trendy two-piece swimsuit bikini, swimwear has evolved over time to reflect changing fashion trends and social norms. Today, swimsuits come in a wide range of styles, colors, and materials to suit different body types and preferences. High-waisted bottoms, cut-out designs, and retro prints are some of the latest trends in swimwear. Whether you prefer a sporty look or a more glamorous one, there are different styles out there for you.

What About the Bikini?

The modern bikini as we know it today was introduced in 1946 by French designer Louis Réard. However, two-piece swimsuits had been around since the 1930s, with variations of the style appearing in different countries. The bikini caused a stir when it was first introduced, as it was considered scandalous and too revealing for mainstream society. However, it gained popularity over time, especially among younger generations and in beach cultures. Today, the bikini is a staple in swimwear fashion and comes in a variety of styles, from the classic triangle top and string bottom to more elaborate designs with cutouts and embellishments.
